About 40 minutes ago, NBC, CBS and the AP all declared that Hillary Clinton is the “Presumptive Democratic Nominee”. That statement is false.
Here are the facts:
- Neither Hillary Clinton nor Bernie Sanders will go into the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia with enough Pledged delegates to clinch the nomination. It’s nearly impossible mathematically for either of them.
- The Democratic Convention in Philadelphia will be CONTESTED.
It’s irresponsible of the “media” to do something like this – it’s a blatant attempt at voter suppression, and they should be ashamed of themselves.
The Sanders campaign released a statement:
SAN FRANCISCO – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ spokesman, Michael Briggs, on Monday issued the following statement:
“It is unfortunate that the media, in a rush to judgement, are ignoring the Democratic National Committee’s clear statement that it is wrong to count the votes of superdelegates before they actually vote at the convention this summer.
“Secretary Clinton does not have and will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to secure the nomination. She will be dependent on superdelegates who do not vote until July 25 and who can change their minds between now and then. They include more than 400 superdelegates who endorsed Secretary Clinton 10 months before the first caucuses and primaries and long before any other candidate was in the race.
“Our job from now until the convention is to convince those superdelegates that Bernie is by far the strongest candidate against Donald Trump.”
It’s not over, as much as HRC and the Mainsteam Media want it to be. If Sanders’ goes into the Philadelphia convention with wins in most of Tomorrow’s primary states, including California, it weakens HRC and there’s a good chance Superdelegates will switch their votes to Bernie. They are trying to make Sanders’ supporters think it’s over so they don’t bother to vote tomorrow – but don’t be fooled. GO. VOTE. STAY IN LINE. Make your voice heard.
